My Anzac Story

  The Fight
The ANZACs landed at Gallipoli, Peninsula on 25th of april. We have been fighting for at least 3 weeks now, and i'm growing tired.

I was fighting in a field against the Ottoman Turkish defenders. I was so scared. A 19 year old boy fighting in the middle of a field, ¨i'm too young to die¨ I said out loud. Suddenly I heard gunshots going past my head. I then realised that someone was attacking me.

I didn't want to kill anyone, but I also wanted to live. So I began firing, not caring where I was shooting. Then I heard a voice, My commander, he was shouting at me and telling me,
¨ stop shooting everywhere and aim!¨ so I aimed at the shooter and pulled the trigger. As soon as the bullet hit one of them, the enemy started shooting at me as revenge. I sprinted and leapt into one of our shelters. I could hear the gunshots bouncing of the shelter tin. Suddenly I saw a red spot on my body something like the color of blood. I thought I was going to die. So I began saying my goodbyes to my friends and family. As I lay waiting for death I realized I felt no pain, so I inspected my wound upon which i discovered that it was just a Poppy. I laughed freely not caring that I looked like a mentally ill person.

With renewed passion and courage I came out of hiding and faced the enemy with determination. I fought for my family and my Country like a man!
